Employees at BNP Paribas Real Estate will take on the Nine Peaks Challenge in September to help raise £30,000 for the organisation’s charity partner, the Alzheimer’s Society.
The team of 20 employees from across the business will scale the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland in less than 72 hours between 15 and 17 September.
This challenge is an upgrade from last year’s event, which saw employees tackle the Five Peaks Challenge in less than 48 hours, raising £29,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
In preparation for the event, employees have embarked on a four-month training schedule. Other planned fundraising activities include a quiz night, football tournament and auction.
Mark England, chief operating officer at BNP Paribas Real Estate, said: “As if scaling five peaks in 48 hours wasn’t enough, this year we have decided to push ourselves even further in support of a great organisation. It will undoubtedly be a challenge undertaken by very few, however, we have support from across the [organisation] and are confident that we can exceed last year’s fundraising total.”
Gaynor Gillespie, HR director at BNP Paribas Real Estate, added: “This is a brilliant opportunity for our people to work as a high-performing team in more ways than one. It shows real ambition from the team involved and takes commitment to training and preparation in these coming weeks. We were oversubscribed by willing volunteers wanting the chance to raise money and awareness about the invaluable work of the Alzheimer’s Society by undertaking this immense challenge.
"For those taking part, it will be a serious exercise in team-building, resilience, and working together to achieve a common goal; they are all going to be brilliant.”
