The Caravan and Motorhome Club uses its employee recognition programme to celebrate outstanding performance, teamwork and dedication across the organisation.
The club has more than 2,700 campsites across the UK and Europe and employs 1,400 staff across its UK head office and its UK-wide campsite network.
Its employee recognition programme takes the form of its annual Club Stars Awards. It recognises a range of behaviours and achievements, including individuals or teams that deliver exceptional service, support colleagues, demonstrate leadership and embody core values.
Award categories include Individual, Team, Site, Everyday Hero, Great in an Emergency, and the Director General’s Award. Employee nominations are submitted from across head office and the campsite network, reflecting the impact they have on each other, members and guests.
Staff are acknowledged for exemplifying the club’s ways of working, which include collaboration, continuous learning, openness, support and pride in their work, explains Lia Clark, HR manager at the Caravan and Motorhome Club.
“The Club Stars Awards highlight the contribution of individuals and teams in a visible and celebratory way, formally acknowledging employees’ efforts and achievements,” she says. ”By recognising a wide spectrum of contributions, from technical expertise to everyday professionalism and emergency response, the programme reinforces behaviours that underpin our culture and supports staff to feel appreciated.”
The awards are designed to create a culture of excellence, collaboration and pride, and motivate staff to continue contributing positively to The Caravan and Motorhome Club’s performance. Its success is measured through the level of engagement in the nominations process, feedback from peers and line managers, and observation of staff morale and collaboration across teams.
The awards also provide qualitative insight into the effect recognition has on employees, with award recipients often cited as role models and examples of the club’s culture in action. Member satisfaction and operational improvements at campsites can also be considered an indirect measure of its positive impact on staff motivation and performance.
The Club Stars Awards reflect a desire to promote the club’s core values and ways of working, adds Clark.
“It also provides visible acknowledgment of staff achievements and strengthens the shared culture of collaboration, support and excellence. It allows us to highlight both individual and team accomplishments, reinforce positive behaviours and ensure employees feel valued and inspired to continue making a difference for colleagues and members alike,” she says.
