Assurant offers healthcare support as part of mental wellbeing strategy

Assurant

Assurant is a global provider of risk management solutions, with 15,000 employees. Across Europe, Assurant has 1,300 employees, of which 1,100 are based in the UK. The organisation’s mental wellbeing strategy ensures that its employees have prompt access to healthcare and support and, importantly, is woven within its overall employee wellbeing strategy.

Julie Lane, HR business partner, says: “By combining the two, we aim to foster a culture of wellbeing which has been designed to increase levels of trust, sense of purpose in work, job satisfaction and engagement in our company culture.”

Assurant, which has partnered with Aon for a number of years, has designed and implemented the programme to cater for all employees. It includes a range of benefits that focus on attracting and retaining high-calibre employees, improving engagement within the workforce, improving overall health and wellbeing of employees, reducing absence, meeting regulatory requirements and government initiatives, and supporting employees as a responsible employer.

“We offer our employees a wide range of options including, group income protection, a wellbeing hub with access to a 24/7 EAP [employee assistance programme], and private medical insurance including Stronger Minds, a service that provides prompt access to mental healthcare and support,” adds Lane. “In addition, we give our employees’ access to [healthcare provider] Medicash, which helps with financial funding towards a range of positive healthcare benefits. To date, feedback from our employees has been really positive and we’ve seen these benefits being continuously accessed.”
