Housing 21 has appointed Ian Hodson director of people and culture from this month (August).
In this role, he will be responsible for all aspects of people management for the housing association’s more than 4,000 employees working across the UK and at its head office in Birmingham, as well as its remote workers. His main priorities will be building on the organisation’s culture and initiatives, such as offering flexible approaches to working patterns and employee wellbeing.
Hodson previously worked at the University of Lincoln, most recently holding the role of head of reward.
Housing 21 completed an employee survey over the summer and will use the results as the basis to inform its future plans, which will include some new employee benefits and a focus on financial education and wellbeing.
Hodson said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Housing 21. I am passionate about enhancing the employee experience whether that’s through creating an inclusive culture, developing career pathways and job roles or improving the employee experience. We now have so many more options when it comes to job prospects, so it’s important that organisations listen to their employees and provide the benefits and opportunities they want in order to attract and retain talent.
“I’m excited to work with colleagues, looking at how we can be creative and innovative in our approach and I’m really keen that we think outside the box. Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that colleagues are proud of working at Housing 21 and feel valued.”
