Bank Natwest Group and motorway services business Roadchef have been named among the shortlisted employers for Best mental health strategy at this year’s Employee Benefits Awards 2023.
This award recognises employers that have made a concerted effort to address employee stress and mental ill-health in the workplace, have put measures in place to actively identify stress or other mental health issues such as depression, and have taken steps to support affected staff.
The full category shortlist is:
- Criteo
- Heathrow Airport Holdings
- Natwest Group
- Roadchef
- Value Retail
In 2022, construction firm Lendlease won the award. It impressed judges by signing the Time to Change pledge, taking part in Mind’s annual workplace wellbeing index, and creating a mental health offering that both supported employees and focused on helping reduce the rates of suicide in the industry. It also overhauled its internal mental health strategy through mental health first aid training and workshops, and implemented a series of industry-wide support initiatives in order to reach all construction workers.
A Lendlease spokesperson said: “It’s amazing to have won, and its testament to all the hard work the team at Lendlease has put in. Everything from mental health first aiders, to our wellbeing champions and our health and safety team. It’s a really big team effort, so this recognises what we do.”
The Employee Benefits Awards, which is in its 21st year, will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on 23 June.
The daytime event will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment and the chance to network with industry professionals. The after-party will include live music, dodgems, a carousel and a big wheel in the venue’s private grounds.
