Working together as one team
We work as one team at Tadworth Grove Care Home. We’re always thinking of new ways to entertain and appeal to our residents’ interests. Whatever they are. Everyone gets involved, from choosing activities such as afternoon tea to our nutritious menu, that is filled with resident favourites.
When the chefs at the home, following guidance on shielding and protecting people who are clinically extremely vulnerable, had to take time off, Suzanne Baldwin, Activities Coordinator, stepped up and quickly learned the ropes.
For the past month, Suzanne with support from other members of the team have ensured the home continues to deliver the resident favourites they all enjoy, whilst ensuring their nutrition wasn’t compromised.
Everything Suzanne needed to know was shared by the lead Chef by call and who has been on hand in case of any queries.
We were able to make fast changes to our staffing, and ensure our residents received a consistent quality service, that they are used to receiving. Whilst Suzanne has been helping to run the kitchen, the rest of the team have been keeping residents active with running quizzes, arts and crafts, games and enjoying the beautiful weather in the home’s gardens.
The home’s response to the current situation has been warmly welcomed by relatives, with compliments flooding in. Here are some recent comments from family members:
Kate, daughter of a resident said: “The care and commitment from all the staff during these challenging times, has been beyond the call of duty. I can’t thank them enough. I thank each and every one of the team from the bottom of my heart!”
Gary, son of a resident said: “Against the shocking stories of the COVID-19 crisis, some of us families are blessed to have our beloved aged relatives in a safe and caring environment, that is well run and organised. The picture today of our mother taken in a sheltered sunny garden, enjoying her pre-launch wine, provides evidence, it ain’t all bad”
Nita, relative of resident in response to the home posting pictures over Easter, when all residents and staff received Easter eggs and participated in the weekend of activities arranged by the team, said: “thank you for the lovely pics of our loved ones smiling and happy. We are missing not being able to visit, especially on a day when the family is usually together, and this has cheered us up.”
