The industrial minerals division of LKAB has introduced specialist cancer support for its 250 UK employees.

LKAB is a Swedish firm in the iron and steel industry that develops carbon-free processes and products. Its UK staff and their loved ones will now have access to comprehensive cancer navigation and support services, provided by specialist cancer navigation provider Reframe Cancer, These services include a dedicated cancer nurse specialist to provide information, guidance, and emotional support throughout the illness, and a cancer support manager to help with appointments, transportation to these, and return-to-work planning.

Cancer carers will also be available to support those impacted, as well as access to a range of informative materials and online resources on cancer awareness and preventative measures.

The support is part of LKAB’s commitment to supporting its staff and their families during challenging times, as well as offering health and wellbeing benefits to tackle the growing concern of cancer and its impact on employees and the workplace.

Samantha Bucknall, HR director at LKAB, said: “This is a great opportunity to break the silence that often surrounds people feeling isolated when dealing with cancer symptoms or a diagnosis, whether directly or for those they care for. Not only will it help individuals dealing with cancer directly, but it will provide essential education for line managers to effectively support our colleagues throughout their cancer journey. At LKAB, we are deeply committed to supporting our employees and their families, ensuring they feel valued and cared for during challenging times.”
