Global drinks brand Diageo has become a fertility-friendly employer as part of its commitment to implementing policies and practices that support its employees.

Run by Fertility Matters at Work, the initiative offers employers fertility-friendly training, access to panel discussions and events, resources, guidance and support. The aim is to open up fertility struggles conversations within the workplace, educate about what fertility treatment involves and the link to mental health, and empower organisations to build an inclusive and supportive workplace.

Diageo introduced a policy of paid leave for employees undergoing treatment, as well as partners or intended parents. The brand also said it aimed to raise awareness of fertility issues internally, including the mental and physical toll faced by those affected.

According to the employer, which already offered policies centred around pregnancy loss, domestic and family abuse, and menopause, championing inclusion and diversity in the workplace is central to its performance ambition. It stated that adding fertility support guidelines to its suite of personal and family support was necessary to assist staff going through health and family-related challenges.
