Burness Paull menopause-friendly

Law firm Burness Paull has received menopause-friendly employer reaccreditation in recognition of its ongoing work to support its employees who are experiencing the condition.

Established by Henpicked: Menopause In The Workplace, the accreditation sets standards which employers are required to meet. To achieve this, a panel assesses evidence of effectiveness in an organisation’s culture, policies and practices, training, engagement, and working environment. Reaccreditation is assessed through an employer’s continued efforts to focus on menopause in the workplace.

The firm initially received accreditation three years ago due to its menopause policy framework and employees’ access to a range of training, practical support and resources, including trained menopause champions across the organisation.

Burness Paull has since focused on widening the practical tools and resources available to support those directly impacted by menopause and peri-menopause. This includes signposting, reasonable adjustments or occupational health referrals, listening and responding to employees’ needs, and providing tailored and practical support as a result to improve working lives.

Emma Smith, inclusion and wellbeing manager at Burness Paull, said: “We are a firm where inclusion and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re committed to promoting a workplace culture where everyone can succeed. For us, our work on menopause is no longer a project or initiative but embedded into our business as usual efforts to ensure everyone in the firm is supported and able to be the best they can be.

“We want to ensure staff feel comfortable having conversations around menopause and asking for help, and that throughout the firm, line managers are aware of how they can support their teams. We’ve worked hard to put in place a range of policies, tools and benefits to encourage health and wellness at work and I’m delighted we have received this re-accreditation. It’s something I’d encourage all employers to consider.”
