New data has revealed that three-quarters of UK employees in industries where working from home is possible want a hybrid working model.
Commissioned by London-based startup YuLife, a YouGov survey of more than 2,000 British adults looked into workplace wellbeing, employees’ expectations from employers, and the future of work. It found that four in five (79%) of those who could work remotely would like to do so at least two days per week.
Almost half (48%) think that their employers have a responsibility to look after the wellbeing of their families, and three in five (62%) would feel more motivated in a workplace which prioritised both their wellbeing and that of their family.
Although 70% of staff whose employers offers wellbeing benefits and policies are aware that these exist but only 14% take full advantage of what their workplace offers. A total of 27% say that the single factor that would encourage them to take better advantage of benefits is a greater range of wellbeing perks that are more personally relevant to them.
Sammy Rubin, CEO and founder of YuLife, explained that the findings demonstrate just how far the workplace has evolved since the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, which has encouraged many businesses to make changes in order to safeguard the wellbeing of their staff.
“Workplaces now need to give employees more tools to help them benefit from the new expectations they now have from their employers following the pandemic. Perks and benefits have to be made more accessible and tailored to individual employees’ needs, while also benefiting both remote staff as well as those coming into the office in an era increasingly characterised by a hybrid working model,” he said.
Rubin added that organisations that respond the fastest to these trends have the “best chances” of retaining their talent by showing how the right wellbeing policies now constitute a key business imperative.
