Employee Benefits poll: Two-fifths (40.6%) of organisations revealed that their employee take-up of health and wellbeing benefits was between 0-25%, according to a survey of Employee Benefits readers.
One-fifth (21.9%) of respondents said that their employee take-up of these type of benefits was between 26-50% and 51-75%. Meanwhile, 15.6% answered that take-up was between 76-100%.
Last month, Employee Benefits reported that health and wellbeing benefits are the most impactful component of an employee value proposition but are underutilised by staff, according to research from Cigna Healthcare.
Its report, Harnessing health – measuring the impact of employee health and wellbeing benefits, surveyed employers and staff in the UK, US, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and found that employee wellbeing is a top priority in organisations and the benefits produce tangible advantages.
However, the survey found that there was a disconnect between employer intentions and employees’ perspectives, as 57% said that their employer proactively supports their wellbeing and 58% of employers said that these kind of benefits are underutilised by staff.
Jason Sadler, president of international health at Cigna Healthcare, said: “Our survey results show that health and wellbeing benefits drive workplace performance, help attract and retain talent, and are critical in keeping employees healthy and engaged. To fully harness these positive impacts, employers should provide benefits plans that meet the needs of their workforce, while also fostering a workplace culture that encourages proactive health management.”
