Hastings Direct has pledged to give 1,000 days support for charity, one day each for every member of staff.

The insurance broker has announced that its charity this year is Raystede Welfare Centre for Animals.

Edward Fitzmaurice, chief executive officer at Hastings Direct, will kick off the 1,000 day pledge by taking part in the first key project at Raystede: building an outdoor classroom and educational facility.

In the past, Hastings Direct’s employees have raised £30,000 for Sussex Association of Spina Bifida and Hyrdoencephalus (SASBAH) and £17,000 for St Mary’s School.

The organisation also has two insurance products, which raise money for male and female cancer charities each year, and also donates £2 from every motorbike policy it sells to the Think Bike safety campaign.

Fitzmaurice said: “As an organsiation which prides itself on doing nearly everything ourselves in-house, we are a highly skilled and motivated community that has a lot to offer charities which need our support.

“Our staff have proved all too willing to give back to their local communities and as a leading employer, we would like to support them even further by offering each of them a paid work day to donate to charity.”
