Disability services and support organisation Edge Group Scotland has been accredited as a living hours employer as part of its commitment to fair work and its employees’ long-term wellbeing.

Through the accreditation, Edge Group Scotland has ensured that all of its directly employed staff will receive at least four weeks’ notice for shifts, a contract that reflects the hours they regularly work, and a guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week. Where requested, staff may choose to opt out of the 16-hour minimum if it better suits them.

The commitment will also apply to contract workers via third-party providers, such as cleaning and administrative support services, with the organisation actively working with its providers to implement the standards for all eligible contracted staff.

Edge Group Scotland, which is also a living wage employer, believes that predictable hours and income are vital to building a secure life, supporting wellbeing and enabling people to meet their financial and personal commitments with confidence. It recognises that while paying a real living wage is essential, so is providing secure, predictable hours.

The accreditation underscores its commitment to fair work and secure hours, reinforcing its belief that fair work is about more than just pay. It also reflects its role in setting higher standards across the social care sector.

David Myers, director of operations and finance at Edge Group Scotland, said: “Our living hours accreditation demonstrates our continued commitment to doing right by our people. Fair pay and secure work are the foundations of a resilient and motivated team, and that’s good for our team and the communities we serve. We’re incredibly proud to be part of a growing movement of employers across Scotland which are leading by example, showing that responsible employment practices are not only possible, but essential.”
