Clothing retailer Primark will increase the hourly pay of its retail employees across Great Britain from 1 April.
Primark employs more than 30,000 UK employees across its retail and head office operations.
More than 27,000 retail assistants across England, Scotland and Wales will see their average hourly pay rates increase to a minimum of £13, or £13.71 per hour in London.
Over the last three years, on average, a Primark employee has seen their hourly rate increase by more than 15%.
Kari Rodgers, UK retail director at Primark, said: “As retail becomes a more demanding environment, our employees play an increasingly important role to support our customers and the local communities we’re part of up and down the country. By investing in increasing staff pay, we hope this goes some way towards recognising their hard work, commitment and the value they bring every day.”
In April 2025, the retailer increased its average rates of hourly pay for retail assistants across England, Scotland and Wales to a minimum of £12.48 from £12 previously, and £13.06 per hour from £12.56 in London.
Primark employees will continue to receive a 15% year-round discount, alongside improved maternity, paternity, adoption, and surrogacy payments for all retail and depot staff, wellbeing initiatives, an employee assistance programme, flexible shifts, a pension scheme, and development opportunities.
