Accountancy and business advisory organisation BDO will discuss the basic principles around employee benefits programmes at Employee Benefits Live 2016.

Debbie Thomson (pictured), head of HR operations at BDO Services, will present the session Back to benefits basics, alongside Dominic Cole-Morgan, group reward and employee policy director at Standard Life, on Tuesday 11 October.

The conference session aims to provide an overview of benefits for those who are new to the industry or are in the process of implementing a benefits programme for the first time.

During the session, Thomson will examine the key areas organisations should consider when developing a benefits programme, including: alignment to culture; business and people objectives; understanding your people; benefit design and structure; engagement and communication; and the arguments for keeping it simple.

Thomson said: “The takeaway [for those attending the session] would be that no one answer fits all.

“[I hope] that each individual goes away with either confirmation that the thinking they are already doing is right, and/or they would take away one thing that either surprises them or that they haven’t thought of before.”

Employee Benefits Live 2016 will take place on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 October at Olympia National, London. Register to attend for free and view the full conference programme.
