EXCLUSIVE: Police authorities in the East Midlands have launched an employee assistance programme (EAP) through a framework agreement.

The EAP, which went live on 1 January 2013, is available to staff at Derbyshire Constabulary, Leicestershire Police Authority, Lincolnshire Police, Northamptonshire Police and Nottinghamshire Police through the agreement.

It is administered by East Midlands combined HR services and provided by CIC.

Derbyshire Constabulary, Leicestershire Police Authority, Lincolnshire Police and Nottinghamshire Police all previously had EAPs in place, while Northamptonshire had in-house provision.

More than 12,000 employees now have access to telephone counselling 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, and face-to-face counselling and support when required.

The agreement also makes provision for clinical assessment and therapy for individuals who are affected by incidents at work and the associated support that will be required by employees following a critical accident.
