Danone has launched a health cash plan to supplement its private medical insurance (PMI) scheme.
Its 1,300 employees will have access to the benefit, provided by BHSF, through the food manufacturer’s flexible benefits platform.
The health cash plan, which includes cover for low-cost treatments, therapies and eye tests, was introduced due to Danone’s concern about aspects of its PMI provision, including the cost. Claims for treatments now covered by the health cash plan may previously have gone through the organisation’s PMI scheme.
Since the launch, 23% more employees have joined the PMI scheme, and the overall cost of cover has fallen by 6% due to better employee education and engagement.
Brian Hall, sales and marketing director at BHSF, said: “Health cash plans are often seen as an alternative to PMI, but Danone’s offering of cash plans through flexible benefits has demonstrated that the two covers can complement one another.”
