Bromford Housing Association has received menopause-friendly accreditation as part of its aim to become a more inclusive employer.
The accreditation was established by Henpicked: Menopause in The Workplace and recognises proven practices that embrace menopause in the workplace. Employers who demonstrate their effectiveness in culture, policies and practices, training, engagement and working environment can achieve it.
The association was praised for the introduction of a menopause guidance and support hub, and menopause champions across the organisation, as well as bi-monthly coffee catch ups in a safe, open space to share experiences and offer advice and support. The condition is now discussed freely and openly, and staff are confident they will receive the support they need.
The commitment is part of its recognition that a supportive work environment is essential for its employees’ wellbeing and that the menopause can have an impact on all family members as well.
By raising awareness, it aims to support everyone to be the best version of themselves when dealing with the menopause, and helps to foster a diverse and supportive workforce where all staff can thrive and feel valued and supported in the workplace.
Jennifer Chance, head of people at Bromford Housing Association, said: “I am delighted that we have been accredited as a menopause-friendly employer. The menopause can have an impact on all family members, not just the person going through this, so it is great to have raised awareness of the issues on this topic and to ensure we help all to thrive when dealing with the impact of the menopause.”
Deborah Garlick, chief executive officer and Founder of Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, added: “By delivering a framework to work towards achieving menopause accreditation, it helped Bromford achieve genuine sustainable and meaningful change. It also meant that Bromford would revisit their targets and results to ensure that the supportive culture continues to thrive.”
