BGL Group has launched an initiative to encourage its staff to be more active.

The four-week Active121 programme aims to help employees complete 30 minutes’ exercise five days per week.

Around 100 employees have registered for the free benefit, which includes unlimited email access to a wellbeing advisor for personal support, a weekly motivational email and an opportunity to create bespoke activity plans.

The programme follows on from a range of health and wellbeing activities that the insurance group offers its staff, including discounted fitness classes and physiotherapy services, a charity trek aligned with its wellbeing programme, and an annual ‘Know Your Numbers’ health check.

The group’s My Wellbeing programme has been running for three years, and offers employees access to a wide range of initiatives under the themes of My Health, My Relaxation and Energy, My Fitness and My Happiness.

Gail Cingolani, reward and benefits manager at the BGL Group, said: “The My Wellbeing programme is a key part of the group’s employee engagement strategy.

“The annual ‘Know Your Numbers’ initiative is an integral part of our wellbeing agenda and we are delighted with its ongoing success.

“Our last employee survey found that 85% of our employees believe that BGL takes the wellbeing of employees seriously.

“We hope that the addition of our latest offering, Active121, will further demonstrate our commitment to this.”
