Technology giant Facebook has extended its remote working policy until July 2021 for all of its 52,534 US employees.
The enhanced policy allows employees to take their time to return to the offices, when they are open, by giving them the option to remain working-from-home either full or part-time until 30 June 2021. Due to the health risks of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the organisation's office have remained closed. and although they will begin to open up over the coming months, they are not expected to be fully operational until 2021 at the earliest.
Facebook is also giving its US employees a $1,000 (£763) one-off payment which can be put towards buying equipment to set up their own home office.
Facebook follows in the footsteps of technology giants Google and Fujistu, who have both extended their working from home policies until at least early 2021.
A spokesperson at Facebook said: "Based on guidance from health and government experts, as well as decisions drawn from our internal discussions about these matters, we are allowing employees to continue voluntarily working from home until July 2021. In addition to this, we are also giving employees an additional $1,000 for home office needs."
