Almost half (45%) of office-based respondents feel under an unpleasant amount of pressure at work on a weekly basis, according to research by Viking.
The Exploring the workplace report, which surveyed 2,000 UK employees, also found that 49% of home-based respondents feel they have no one to talk to about stress-related problems, compared to 33% of office-based staff.
The research also found:
- 62% of female respondents have someone they can talk to about work-related stress, however 45% of male respondents do not have anyone they feel they can talk to about this.
- 52% of office-based respondents do not take any breaks during the working day, excluding lunch.
- 61% of respondents who work from home take two to three breaks throughout their working day.
- 30% of respondents who work from home never feel that they are under an unpleasant amount of work-related pressure.
- 60% of office-based respondents feel a lack of fulfillment from their jobs at least once a week.
Ruud Linders, marketing manager for Europe at Viking, said: “I think the recent findings highlight how important it is for employees and employers, whether working from home or in an office, to have someone they can speak to about any work-related problems.
“Having an outlet for stress can really help to ease any unpleasant pressure; this could be exercising, taking a break from your desk, meditating, or simply confiding in someone about your worries.”
