27% feel appreciated through workplace reward and recognition

Employee engagement-motivation-2015Just over a quarter (27%) of respondents feel most appreciated as a result of reward and recognition in the workplace, according to research by office design firm Peldon Rose.

Its survey, based on responses from 871 London office workers, also found that over half (56%) of respondents feel they are only sometimes or never appreciated in their place of work.

The research also found:

  • 36% say that having the right tools and technology is the most important factor in making them feel appreciated.
  • 67% of respondents feel more motivated at work in the summer, compared to just 7% who feel most motivated in the winter.
  • 80% of respondents believe that winter has a negative affect on their productivity levels and mood.
  • 19% of respondents receive free fruit or breakfast in their workplace.

Jitesh Patel, chief executive of Peldon Rose, said: “It’s all too easy for productivity and motivation to become impacted by the seasonally adjusted issues of a cold, dark, damp commute, leaden skies and winter malaise. This is a widespread issue that businesses can easily tackle with a few simple initiatives.”
