Around two-thirds (66%) of employees do not receive health and wellbeing support from their employer, according to research from Simplyhealth and YouGov.

The first Simplyhealth/You Gov everday health tracker survey, which had 1,998 respondents, also found that 22% of those who receive no support would like more health support from their employer.

The study also found:

  • Of the 44% of respondents who receive workplace health support, 18% say they would like more support.
  • 21% say their employer provides workplace counselling.
  • A quarter (25%) of respondents think that cycle-to-work schemes are the best employee benefit.
  • Just 5% of respondents used fitness apps regularly in the last three months, and only 4% used a fitness tracker.

Romana Abdin, chief executive of Simplyhealth, said: “We’ve launched this tracker with YouGov to help inform the debate on the future of UK healthcare. Changing demographics, increasing obesity and new technologies and treatments are demanding a new approach to healthcare delivery.

“To make the best decisions, our healthcare sector needs the best information.”
