Tesco and Carillion are to launch a new health and wellbeing app for their employees, which is being introduced by healthcare provider Bupa.

The supermarket giant will make the app available to its 330,000 strong workforce, while Carillion will offer it to its 20,000 employees in the UK.

The app, called Bupa Boost, will help support both organisations’ employees to engage and improve engagement, while boosting staff motivation with their health and wellbeing initiatives.

Available on smartphones and tablets, it will also support employees in setting personal goals, use data from other apps and wearable technology, track progress against friends and colleagues, and help employees earn wellness points in competitions created by employers.

Both firms plan to roll out the app later this year.

Bupa launched the app after seeing demand from its employer clients to help reform health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Andy Kirby, group insurance risk manager at Carillion, said: “Carillion fully appreciates the potential of Bupa Boost to our [employees] and is pleased to be actively engaged with Bupa with a view to rolling out [the app] later this year.”
