More than half of employers (54%) are taking steps to make their fleets more environmentally friendly and to reduce carbon emissions, according to the Employee Benefits/Alphabet Fleet research 2015.
While a third of respondents (33%) believe that company cars will always be part of the benefits package, and others cite that they are an essential recruitment (28%) and retention (21%) tool, some respondents are not so positive.
Just over than a quarter (28%) said the administration that such a scheme requires is becoming increasing complex, while 16% believe company cars are an outdated benefit. Many said that the health and safety, or duty-of-care, requirements increase employers’ corporate risk, while 17% would get rid of the scheme if they could.
