Retirement options

Just under half (49%) of respondents say that supporting staff at retirement is a key part of their employee value proposition (EVP), according to the Employee Benefits/Close Brothers Pensions research 2014.

The research, which surveyed 216 respondents in September 2014, also found that 43% see its role in engaging staff as a key benefit of providing at-retirement support.

The majority of respondents appear to believe employers have a duty of care to support staff at retirement.

More than half (53%) say they do so because it is part of their culture and they want to support staff in making informed decisions. This is followed by just under a third (31%) that do so due to their desire to be an employer of choice and to remain competitive.

Less than a third (28%) do so because it supports their wider HR and strategic initiatives.
