Zurich Insurance Group recognised for employee wellbeing

Zurich UK offers two weeks’ emergency leave to working parentsZurich Insurance Group’s global headquarters in Switzerland has received Well Platinum status, a certification for employee wellbeing.

Established by the International Well Building Institute, the certification is a building standard that measures, certifies and monitors features of the built environment that impact human health and wellbeing. It explores 10 features or concepts that impact occupants’ health and wellbeing: air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community.

Certified spaces such as the Quai Zurich Campus at Mythenquai, which has been the group’s headquarters since 1901, can help create an environment that improves the nutrition, fitness, mood, sleep patterns and performance of its occupants.

Through the certification, the group’s goal is to advance human health using design interventions and operational protocols and policies, while promoting a culture of health and wellbeing. It also aims to provide facilities that foster a culture of innovation and service, welcome visitors and allow employees to work flexibly, collaboratively and creatively.

Christopher La Mantia, marketing planning expert at Zurich Insurance, said: “When the Quai campus was planned, health and wellbeing was our top priority, and we wanted to prove it. We aimed to create an environment for our employees to work flexibly, collaboratively and creatively. We applied for the Well certification at the platinum level and we got it. We couldn’t be prouder. By implementing health strategies from the wellbeing standards, Zurich shows its growing commitment to people-first spaces for its employees.”

The Quai Zurich Campus was also recognised with LEED Platinum environmental certification in 2021 and 2000-Watt-Society certification for the whole campus, as well as eco certification for its new and historically listed buildings. Some of Zurich’s other offices in Spain, Germany, Australia and the US have won various awards and certifications that demonstrate the degree to which sustainability has been integrated into their design, construction and operations.
