Something for the weekend: Businesses across the UK have come together to offer discounts and perks to NHS staff, as a show of solidarity and support for those on the front line in the battle against Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
Wedding dress retailer Pronovias has stated that brides-to-be among NHS employees should have something to look forward to after the worst of the crisis is over. The business is offering free wedding dresses, known as the 'heroes collection', for engaged NHS staff until 31 August 2020.
Hotel Football and the Stock Exchange Hotel have closed to the public, instead offering beds to NHS and healthcare employees who are in need of places to stay while working.
Shoe brand Kurt Geiger is giving £100 vouchers to 55 NHS employees in the UK, and is launching a 50% discount for NHS employees, valid for a year. Similarly, sustainable shoe retailer Allbirds is committed to donating as many pairs of shoes as possible to those on the front-line.
London-based electric taxi organisation HP Taxi is offering free transportation to NHS employees all across London to help them get to where they need to be.
Meanwhile, across the country, supermarket chains including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl and Co-Op are all offering NHS staff dedicated shopping hours, to ensure that these key workers get access to much needed food and supplies.
