The Monarch Group has launched a bikes-for-work scheme, following requests from its employees.

The airline, and its provider Evans Cycles, hosted nine roadshows around the country to present the scheme to staff in February 2013, with a pop-up shop at its Luton hub where crew, engineers and ground staff were able to drop in for advice about the scheme.

It also launched a communication programme, which included pre- and post-launch emails, posters and intranet updates.

Nearly 100 employees took up the scheme during its enrolment period which ran from February 2013 until 8 March 2013.

The airline is planning to reopen the scheme this summer.
