Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council has switched childcare voucher providers.

The council moved to KiddiVouchers after its three-year contract with previous provider Computershare Voucher Services came up for renewal.

Stephen Bridgehouse, HR advisor at Tameside MBC, said: “One of the factors considered when choosing our new provider was the process employed to manage our childcare voucher account.

“The selection team were confident Kiddivouchers would fit neatly into our own systems. This has proven to be the case both for Tameside MBC and those of our employees that participate in our scheme.”

The scheme has so far been taken up by around 230 of the council's 8,500 staff.

“At the time we launched we were hitting the summer period and we saw a reduction initially in numbers,” said Bridgehouse. “However, we do anticipate that will increase. We are getting a lot more enquiries from people who were in the original scheme and also people who have decided to join the scheme.”

The scheme was communicated online and through pay advice slips. The council also intends to use posters this month and may arrange some roadshows. “We are very proactive in the way we try to get that message across,” added Bridgehouse.
