Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) offers a comprehensive range of family‑friendly and caring benefits designed to support employees throughout their careers and improve their work-life balance. These include 52 weeks of fully-paid maternity, adoption and surrogacy leave, 12 weeks’ neonatal leave (with six weeks at full pay, service‑dependent) and an inclusive shared parental leave policy.
A key strength of the policy, providing additional benefit to employees is that it recognises the different ways families organise care and avoids traditional gender‑based assumptions by providing additional options within the wider package: shared parental leave enables two parents to share the 52‑week entitlement, creating more equal bonding time and greater flexibility; an early returner bonus allows colleagues on maternity, adoption or surrogacy leave to return earlier than planned while still receiving the remainder of their leave pay in addition to their salary, offering valuable financial stability where one parent works at JLR.
The caregiver model ensures the policy is not gender‑based; instead, the full 52‑week family leave entitlement applies specifically to colleagues who become primary caregivers through maternity, adoption or surrogacy. Unpaid parental leave allows parents to take up to 18 weeks per child, using a maximum of four weeks each year until the child turns 18 years old. JLR’s onsite nursery and wellbeing centres continue to support colleagues’ transition into parenthood and back to work.
Parental and caring policies at JLR continue to evolve as the business adapts to the changing needs of colleagues. We work closely with our trade union partners and engage regularly with our 13 employee‑led networks, including the working parents network and the care for carers network, which both represent more than 3,000 members. Their lived experience helps shape ongoing improvements, while the networks also provide vital peer support, guidance and connection for colleagues beyond formal policy.
We continue to see strong return‑to‑work rates from colleagues taking family leave, demonstrating the trust placed in our culture and support systems. This is reflected in the 97.25% return rate among women who have taken maternity leave between January 2024 and December 2025.
As JLR invests in its people, the business remains committed to creating an inclusive environment where colleagues can thrive. Through progressive policies and strong employee networks, JLR continues to support families and carers at every stage of life.
