QUALIFICATIONS awarded by employers will boost staff motivation and retention and provide a benefit that is attractive to new joiners, say HR experts.

McDonald's, Flybe and Network Rail have been given the power by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) to award their own qualifications to staff.

John McGurk, skills adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, said: "It is a massive benefit that can increase job satisfaction by teaching staff about the business. It is also a huge attracting factor."
