Around a quarter of employees at Harley-Davidson have signed up to its recently launched payroll giving scheme. The motorcycle manufacturer, which has around 150 employees in the UK, set up the charity donating process after it was given a grant by the government. Employers with fewer than 500 staff are able to get a cash incentive of up to £500 through the Payroll Giving Grants programme to introduce such a scheme. The programme will also match the first £10 donated by every employee, every month for six months. Garry Brumfitt, director of European affairs at Harley-Davidson, said that most employees have chosen to give money to the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund, and because of the matching donations the charity can get even more money.
