Southampton City Council has implemented a new HR system to give its employees more control over their HR and payroll services.
Developed in conjunction with Capita, the new system, which went live at the beginning of the month, includes a HR portal that allows staff to have access to information on HR policies and procedures and management information. The online portal can also be used to book training courses and both applying and recruiting for vacancies.
Jackie Standen, head of organisational development at Southampton City Council, said: “Employee self-service has been very well received. Learning and development has been enhanced to provide a better range of courses with online booking and a new recruitment portal has improved our recruitment processes. I expect managers and employees to welcome the further efficiency and empowerment this brings.”
Capita and Southampton City Council signed a ten year strategic partnership contract in August 2007. Under the contract Capita is delivering a range of services for the council including human resources and payroll, customer services, IT, procurement, property management and the processing of council tax and benefit claims.
