Skanska UK has invested almost £1 million to provide a one-off cost-of-living support payment to 1,300 of its 3,300 members of staff.
The 1,300 lowest paid Skanska UK employees will be given a one-off bonus payment of £750 in November 2022, in order to help them address the challenges of rising bills and living costs in the coming months.
Gregor Craig, president and chief executive officer of Skanska UK, said: “Skanska UK will be investing £1 million in our people by providing this additional support. We recognise the challenges many households are facing due to the rising cost of living and is a real reflection of our values and purpose.”
The firm has followed in the footsteps of various other employers, including Marks and Spencer, which invested £15 million in a package of support for its front-line employees during the cost-of-living crisis, including a pay review and extended wellbeing benefits.
Meanwhile, construction firm Galliford Try introduced a one-off payment of up to £750 for around 1,800 of its members of staff, and telecommunications business Sky awarded 70% of its UK and Ireland workforce £1,000.
