Robert Half is arranging a series of initiatives for its staff to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation after selecting the organisation as its charity of the year for 2013/14.
The fundraising initiatives will include five-a-side football, quiz nights, fancy dress and client hospitality events. Employee interest groups have been created to help engage employees and foster teambuilding around challenges including biking, walking and trekking.
A launch event was held on 8 February, in which staff watched health education videos and made a ‘heart pledge’ for the coming year. These included plans to improve the health of their own heart, such as quitting smoking or doing more exercise.
Phil Sheridan, UK managing director at Robert Half, said: “We are delighted and proud to be supporting such a vital charity and helping them in their fight against heart disease.
“Not only does working with the BHF mean that we will be raising important funds, it is also a chance for us to raise awareness on how we can individually maintain a healthy heart.
“Its remit compliments our wellness programmes, as we aim to educate our employees and their families on the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We are excited to get started on our fundraising goals, although I am sure this will be just the beginning for the long-term advantages we will reap from our partnership.”
Amit Aggarwal, head of corporate partnerships at the British Heart Foundation, added: “As a charity, we rely on donations to continue our life-saving work; every research grant awarded, heart nurse funded and information booklet sent out is only possible because of the support we receive from organisations like Robert Half.
“We are delighted to have been selected as charity of the year for 2013/14 and are looking forward to working together to raise vital funds and increase awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle amongst Robert Half staff.”
