Preston County Council has halved the administration charge of its childcare voucher scheme after switching providers.

The switch from Computershare Voucher Services to KiddiVouchers has enabled the council to decrease the cost of administration from 5% to 2.5%.

Since the switch, which took place in May, the level of childcare voucher take-up among 1,100 staff has risen from 31 to 50.

The changes were communicated to staff using letters, posters and online information on the council’s intranet.

Sameena Raja, HR advisor at Preston County Council, said: “From a financial point of view it was beneficial. As a council, we are looking to reduce costs wherever we possibly can.”
