The Pensions Regulator consults on new powers

Employee Benefits poll: More than three-quarters of organisations use salary sacrifice for workplace pensions, according to the latest Employee Benefits research.

Salary sacrifice schemes allow employees to agree to reduce their earnings by an amount equal to their pension contributions and, in exchange, the employer then agrees to pay the total pension contributions.

According to the research, 78% of respondents said that their workplace pensions include salary sacrifice schemes, with another 9% reporting that, although they do not use this benefit now, they are planning to implement it in the future.

However, 13% of those surveyed said they do not use salary sacrifice schemes for workplace pensions and have no plans to do so.
