Staff employed by energy organisation Drax, based at its Selby power station in Yorkshire, have voted to accept a two-year pay deal.
Under the agreement, staff members across all pay bands, including apprentice grades, will receive a 2.8% pay increase, backdated to 1 January 2019. In addition, from 1 January 2020, all employees and apprentices will receive a further 3% pay rise.
The pay deal was negotiated with trade unions GMB, Unite and Prospect; Unite represents 400 employees based at Selby.
Drax's Yorkshire power station produces approximately 7% of Britain’s electricity.
Kelvin Mawer, regional officer at Unite, said: “Unite members at the Drax power station have voted by a large majority to accept a new two-year pay deal, which was hammered out after a tough set of negotiations.
“Planned industrial action has been suspended, and our members are working normally. Unite looks forward to a continuing constructive relationship with the management on pay and employment issues going forward.”
A spokesperson at Drax added: “We are pleased to announce that a pay dispute at Drax Power Station has been resolved with members of the Unite, GMB and Prospect unions voting in favour of accepting an improved two-year pay deal offered by Drax.”
