South Western Railway has agreed a 2.6 increase basic pay and regional allowances, following negotiations with trade union the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA).
The pay rise, which will be back-dated to October 2019, will run for a year through to the start of October 2020 and will also apply to regional allowances. Separately, the rail operator has also agreed to reach a deal on enhancements to terms and conditions, however, implementation dates for this are yet to be agreed.
Manuel Coretes, general secretary at TSSA, said: “I’m pleased that we’ve secured a pay deal for our hard-working members at South Western Railway without drawing this process out further.
“It’s important for our members that we’ve secured this pay deal despite ongoing uncertainties about the future of the rail franchise. It’s great news that the increase applies to allowances and I’m also happy that we have secured a commitment from the company to negotiate some enhancements to terms and conditions in a separate forum."
