Around 50 Falck firefighters based at Glasgow Airport have secured an annual pay increase worth £3,262 on average following union negotiations by Unite.
The pay deal for staff who perform fire safety functions at the airport is an increase on the employer’s previous 5% pay offer, which was rejected by 98% of members.
Over the past month, hundreds of Scottish airport staff have secured pay rises. A total of 100 workers employed by Glasgow Airport will receive a 7% increase on basic salary rates and allowances along with a £1,000 one-off payment, 250 ICTS Central Search security staff will see a phased increase worth up to 11%, and ground services crew employed by Menzies Aviation will receive up to 11% on basic pay.
Meanwhile, around 275 workers at Edinburgh Airport will receive a 12% increase on basic salary and shift pay along with a one-off cash payment of £1,000.
Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, said: “Unite really is delivering for workers based in Scottish airports. This is a cracking deal for our Falck members based at Glasgow Airport.”
Pat McIlvogue, industrial officer at Unite, added: “The pay offer accepted by our Falck fire services members is a good deal. It’s worth on average around £3,262 more for our members this year. Glasgow Airport is a success story for Unite in terms of winning for our members.”
