Inverness-based Bear Scotland workers have accepted a 5.5% pay rise.
Around 20 employees, who deliver services for major roads across the Scottish Highlands, will receive a 5.5% pay increase alongside a similar increase in standby payments.
They are represented by trade union Unite, which negotiated the deal on their behalf.
The deal builds on the union successfully negotiating a union recognition agreement with Bear Scotland and a pay deal last year. In October 2025, the workers received a pay increase of up to 7.25% and improvements to standby payments. They also received accelerated pay grade timeframes so they could reach higher pay levels over shorter periods of time.
This followed employees overwhelmingly backing industrial action in order to secure a better pay deal.
Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite, said: “Unite’s members working for Bear Scotland based in Inverness have secured a good pay deal. This builds on the success of last year’s recognition agreement.”
Marc Jackson, industrial officer at Unite, added: “Unite secured inflation-beating improvements to basic pay and allowances for the Bear Scotland road workers in a deal which was overwhelmingly backed by our members. The pay deal builds on the recent successes we have achieved for Bear Scotland workers across the Highlands.“
Bear Scotland was contacted for comment prior to publication.
