Something for the weekend: Scouring online sites for a dream job could be at an end, as Partick Thistle Football Club advertises for what it describes as the best job in the world: taking on the role of club mascot Kingsley, a large yellow thistle.
Looking for a candidate who is over five feet eight inches tall and over 16 years old, the Glasgow-based club seeks a candidate who does not mind taking part in multiple selfies, who is able to entertain superstars and school children at the same time, and who is capable of winning any mascot race on the planet.
As well as leading players out of the tunnel, the new club mascot will be the main focus at games and head up the club’s legion of fans. Experience of whipping large crowds into a frenzy is required.
Applicants can send in their CV, cover letter and demonstration video to be considered for the role. The successful candidate will be paid with a 2016/2017 Partick Thistle season ticket.
Ian Maxwell, managing director at Partick Thistle FC, said: “We’ve decided to turn to our fans to find our next Kingsley. We want to see passion, creative thinking and ideas that are a bit out there, just like the mascot should be.
“We have exciting plans for Kingsley next season that we hope will help keep the momentum around the club moving in the right direction. With that in mind it’s vital we have our mascot here to stand alongside not only our players but also our fans to carry on the momentum built over the past 12 months.
“Kingsley is the face of the club and we can’t wait to find the right person to make sure he remains the centre of attention, not only at Partick Thistle but also within Scottish football as a whole.”
Here at Employee Benefits, we certainly haven't seen a job description like this before. We can think of a few people who would view a football season ticket as a highly-prized employee benefit indeed...
