From London City Airport

London City Airport has been reaccredited as a Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard employer, receiving the excellence level.

The Mayor’s Good Work Standard recognises best practice across fair pay and conditions, workplace wellbeing, skills and progression, and diversity and recruitment. It is intended to set a benchmark for best employment standards and helps employers contribute to a more inclusive London economy.

The Mayor’s aim with the accreditation is to work with employers to celebrate excellent practices and assist them in adopting best-practice approaches by bringing together a range of support and resources. By signing up, employers signal that they are committed to healthy, fair and inclusive workplaces.

London City Airport met the criteria to be reaccredited at the excellence level; the highest level achievable. This was in recognition of its commitment to its people and the ways in which it is striving for the best possible working conditions for its employees.

Since London City was first accredited in 2019, it has introduced policies to promote and facilitate pensions saving, a Women’s Night Safety Charter, and diversity and inclusion champions across the organisation.

It was also recognised for its work in supporting the local community, including its annual STEM in Aviation Day and inaugural internship programme in partnership with the University of East London, as well as its policy of not using zero-hours contracts and working with a credit union to offer staff financial wellbeing support.

Michael Spiers, chief people officer at London City Airport, said: “We are delighted to be reaccredited at the excellence level of the Mayor of London’s Good Work Standard. We have a very diverse and talented group of staff at London City Airport and are constantly striving to create the best possible working environment for everyone, and this award is testament to that commitment.”
