Employers that thought they were generous for allowing staff to leave work ten minutes early on a Friday may be shocked to discover there are even more kind-hearted bosses out there.

Chat show queen Oprah Winfrey has bucked the trend of cost-cutting in the recession by treating her employees and their families to an all-expenses paid Mediterranean cruise costing a whopping £500,000.

Winfrey, estimated to be worth a cool £1.5billion with an annual income of over £200million, employs 100 staff at her Chicago-based TV production company.

She has joined the her employees on the 10-day cruise, which will stop in Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Malta.

Now that's one work party no-one will be trying to get out of.
