A team of employees from railway organisation Southeastern has raised nearly £11,000 for charity.

The Group Walking Challenge included 14 employees who walked 50 miles and passed through 28 stations along the way. The group travelled from Denmark Hill to Sevenoaks and back to Bromley South.

They raised more than £5,400 for Southeastern’s two employee-nominated charities: the Kent Air Ambulance and Demelza.

The employer matched its employees’ fundraising efforts, bringing the total to £10,800.

Charles Horton, managing director of Southeastern, said: “This is an extraordinary effort and our staff have really gone the extra mile with this challenge.

“This was their own initiative and they’ve dedicated their own time towards this good cause. Customers, colleagues and friends have been very generous through their donations.

“This is an example of our employees living and breathing our company values, and supporting our local communities. Southeastern is only too pleased to match the money raised.”
