EXCLUSIVE: Delegates at Employee Benefits Connect 2018 will be able to learn how to construct a social media-focused recognition strategy.

Debra Corey (pictured) group reward director at Reward Gateway, will lead a session titled ‘How to be a rebel with recognition in a social world’ as part of the employee engagement conference stream on Wednesday 28 February 2018.

The session will discuss how and why HR, reward and benefits professions should think differently around their approach to recognition, and explore how forging a unique approach to recognition can work to really engage employees and aid staff retention.

To demonstrate these points, Corey will present seven employer case studies to highlight different organisations' approaches to recognition.

During the session she will also discuss the importance of social media and the role this should play in an employer’s approach to recognition. Corey will explore how technological advancements should be taken into consideration to help employers facilitate a more social and visible strategy for peer-to-peer recognition.

Corey said: “The whole concept is about not being afraid to challenge the status quo, so really just going out there and shaking things up and doing things differently. If all [employers are] doing right now is long-service awards, is that really achieving […] engagement? So really taking a step back and thinking about ‘what can I do [that is] unique? What can I do that’s really going to drive engagement?’

“I want to light that fire, I want to light that flame under people to be rebels. I want to give [delegates] enough practical tips and tools so that they can go back and start thinking about […] ‘how can I do that in my [organisation]?’ And then, relating to social, […] how and why they can be social because it is no longer a nice to do, but it is a must do.”

Employee Benefits Connect 2018 will take place on Wednesday 28 February 2018 at Park Plaza, Westminster, London.
