Zarina Mahmud has joined Credit Suisse as UK and EMEA head of diversity and inclusion (D&I).
Mahmud brings 20 years of experience at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) to her new position. In her most recent role at LBG she led a varied D&I portfolio and was a key contributor to the bank’s Race Action Plan, launched in July 2020.
Mahmud’s brief is to lead the creation of a comprehensive D&I plan across the EMEA and UK divisions of Credit Suisse. Her responsibilities include embedding D&I culture into the business strategies and priorities of all Credit Suisse’s divisions and functions, and ensuring accountability and impact through clear governance and KPIs. Mahmud will report to Della Sabessar, global head of D&I at Credit Suisse.
Welcoming Mahmud to her new position, Sabessar said: “Zarina’s appointment is another important step to further elevate our efforts in delivering on our enhanced diversity and inclusion strategy.”
She added: “Her passion for inclusion and belonging became first evident in her early career in banking. Being ‘the only’ in many a setting, inspired her to create pathways for others and in 2014 this became a career choice in its own right.”
