Something for the weekend: Motivating employees upon their return from the Christmas break can require some creative thinking. However, US manufacturing organisation Bertch Cabinets has succeeded in ensuring staff are excited about the new year thanks to an organisation-wide cruise around the Caribbean.
The week-long holiday, which will stop at exotic destinations such as the island of Cozumel, off the coast of Mexico, aims to reward the organisation’s 800 employees for meeting the customer-orientated and financial goals set by Gary Bertch, president and co-founder at Bertch Cabinets.
Leaving on Sunday 8 January 2017, luggage-laden staff will fly directly to Miami and spend a night in a five-star hotel, before heading to the port on Monday 9 January to board the cruise ship.
Bertch Cabinets announced the news in December on its Facebook page:
“Bertch is excited to announce [an organisation-wide] vacation! We will be closing all facilities [on] January 9-13 so we can set sail for the sunny Caribbean! This trip wouldn't be possible without the hard work of our incredible Bertch associates! Happy Holidays, everyone!”
Here at Employee Benefits, we could not believe that Bertch had previously taken staff on cruises to Acapulco and Hawaii too! We’re creating our destination wish list to pop in the workplace suggestions box...
