Asda, Bentley Motors, HCL Technologies, KFC, Roche and Vauxhall Motors were among the winners at the Top Employers UK 2016 Awards, which took place on 10 February at London’s Guildhall.
Some 71 organisations were recognised at the ceremony for their high standards of excellence in employee conditions, performance and talent management, compensation and benefits packages, and culture.
Organisations such as ING Bank, Pfizer and Thomson Reuters were certified by the Top Employers Institute for the first time this year, and five organisations were recognised for having been certified 10 times or more, including HCL Technologies, Saffrey Champness, JD Wetherspoon and Whitbread.
Eleanor Nickerson, director of UK operations at the Top Employers Institute, said: “This is the moment we work towards all year; to celebrate the certification of these organisations that are so dedicated to being good employers is very exciting for us. There’s a rigorous process to achieve certification, so we know everyone at the celebration dinner is doing something very special to support their organisations and employees."
Prithvi Shergill, chief human resources officer at HCL Technologies, added: "We are delighted to have achieved a decade of recognition as a top employer in the UK. Our unique culture, distinct people practices and differentiated programmes have given us the flexibility to align our strategy towards offering a great employment experience to our multi-generational workforce.
"We recognise and reward employee behaviours and beliefs that enhance the value zone in their interaction with clients.”
Christopher Parker, managing director at Roche Diagnostics UK and Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have been certified as one of the UK’s top employers. This internationally recognised achievement is a testament to the hard-work of all of our employees.”
